Helen Bladon
Podiatrist
In 1997 Helen achieved a BSc (Hons) degree in Podiatry from
Huddersfield University.
In July 1997 Helen commenced employment
with Barnsley PCT as a Senior II Podiatrist working in the
community.
Helen became a Senior I Specialist Diabetes Podiatrist
for Barnsley region in 2000 and was based in the diabetes centre
within Barnsley
District General Hospital . Working as part of the multidisciplinary
team her duties included diabetes foot screening and management
of patients with foot ulcers including treatment and manufacture
of pressure relieving devices. Helen was also responsible
for training community podiatrists and district / practice nurses
in assessment of the foot in diabetes.
In 2002 Helen gained
a lecturing post at the Birmingham School of Podiatry, she
taught research methods and pathomechanics
of the foot in addition to supervising the students in
the clinical
setting. During this time she also gained a Certificate
in Education from Birmingham University
Helen is currently working
as a community podiatrist for Dudley PCT and is lecturing part
time at the Birmingham
School of
Podiatry. Her areas of special interests include the
high risk foot, diabetes
and wound care. Helen continuously updates her professional
knowledge and skills, therefore maintaining evidence
based clinical practice.
