The AHP Consultant leading the team, John Malik, is a Consultant Podiatrist (Podiatric Surgery), specialising in foot surgery. Consultant Podiatrists have in the first instance studied as Podiatrists, thus they have the advantage of years of background experience treating feet conservatively prior to undertaking training as podiatric surgeons. They study the foot from day one of their training, and should not be mistaken for surgeons specialising in foot surgery later in their careers, after initially studying medicine. Consultant Podiatrists (Podiatric Surgery)are Fellows of the Faculty of Surgery, College of Podiatrists, registered under the Health Professions Council.

John is an experienced Consultant Podiatrist. He is a Fellow of the Surgical Faculty of the College of Podiatrists, holds a substantive NHS appointment as a Consultant Podiatrist and honorary Consultant Podiatrist appointments in the West Midlands. John is a former Head of Podiatry at the Birmingham School of Podiatry, elected Faculty Board Member for the Faculty of Surgery (College of Podiatrists), member of the Quality Assurance Committee of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists, an external examiner to the MSc Theory of Podiatric Surgery Course provided by GCal and QMU, contributor to the ‘NHS Clinical Knowledge Summaries,’ former external adviser to the Health Care Commission, and a current clinical research student. He is registered with the government’s regulatory body for allied health care professionals, the Health Professions Council, registerred as a Podiatrist.

John Malik is the Consultant in charge of all care that takes place within the Birmingham Foot Clinic. He is personally responsible for your care, and is readily available to patients attending the clinic ensuring a personal and responsive service.
